Websites for individuals

A personal website.

Not every site is for a limited company. A personal website is a page you control, usually so people who hear your name can see who you are.

This is for an individual — a maker, a speaker, someone between jobs, a person with a side project, or anyone who wants their own page rather than only a social profile. It is not a dating site, and it isn’t a profile of someone else.

People who have been given your name will search it. A personal site lets them find a sentence about you, examples of work you’re allowed to show, and a way to email you, without needing an account on a social network.

It can be very small. One page is sometimes enough. If you later trade under a business name, the same approach scales into a freelancer website. The price for the small-business site is still £500.

Built for this work

What a website for individuals needs.

Your name, clearly

The title and the first line say who you are. That’s the search friends, employers and collaborators actually type.

What you want known

A short bio in your words. I won’t add awards, follower counts or job titles you didn’t give me.

Work you can show

Optional. If you have projects, writing or photos that are yours to publish, they can go on the page. If you don’t, we leave the gap empty rather than filling it.

Contact on your terms

A form, an email, or both. If you don’t want a public phone number, it stays off the page.

A domain that is yours

Often your name. You buy it, around £5–£10 a year, and I help you point it at the site when we launch.

Searches your customers type

What people type when they need you.

This page is for individuals who want a website. The search it answers is “personal website”. It is not a listing, and it does not pretend to be you.

Your own customers search for something else:

  • “your name”
  • “what you do, plus your town”

After a recommendation, people search your name. A personal site gives them one page that says who you are and how to contact you, instead of a social profile they may not have an account for.

A useful site names your services and the places you cover, in real text, with a proper title on each page and a phone number that works on a mobile. Your free Google Business Profile (opens in a new tab) is the other half: the listing that can show your hours, phone number and area on Google and Maps. Use the same name, address and phone number as the website. I don’t write reviews, and none of this is a promise of a position in the results.

Tips

Getting the most from it.

  • Search your own name before you choose a domain, so you know what else appears.
  • Don’t publish your home address unless you actually want strangers to have it.
  • A social link is fine. It shouldn’t be the only way to reach you.

Payment plans

Rather spread the cost?

A full website is £500. If you’d rather not pay it all at once, pick one of these plans. Every plan adds up to exactly £500, with nothing extra on top.

Plan 1

£150 up front

then £50 a month for 7 months

Total: £500

Plan 2

£100 up front

then £100 a month for 4 months

Total: £500

Plan 3

3 payments

of £166.67, £166.67 and £166.66

Total: £500

  • Monthly payments are taken automatically by card, through Stripe — nothing to remember.
  • Once it’s paid off, you choose: a £10-a-month hosting and care plan, or a full handover of your site.
  • Your own domain is extra, at around £5–£10 a year.

Note: you buy your own domain (around £5–£10 a year) — it’s yours to keep. Want to take payments? You set up your own Stripe account and I’ll connect it. The longer notes are a cheap website for a small business and a pay monthly website.

FAQ

Common questions.

Do I need a company to have a website?

No. The £500 site is for a person as well as for a business. You still buy the domain in your own name.

Can it just be one page?

Yes. If one page says who you are and how to get in touch, we don’t add empty sections to make it look bigger.

I might start a business later. Will I have to begin again?

Not necessarily. We can add services and a business name later. Structural changes can be part of the care plan or quoted if they’re large. The domain, if it’s your name, can stay.

Will this rank for “your name”, “what you do, plus your town”?

No. Those are searches your customers type when they want you, and I can’t promise a position on Google. This page is for personal website. On your site I will write your services and the places you cover in plain text, set a proper title on each page, and make it work on a phone. You should also set up your free Google Business Profile with the same name, address and phone number. That gives Google accurate information about the business. It is not a guarantee.

How much does it cost, and can I pay monthly?

A full website is £500, or you can spread the cost: £150 up front then £50 a month for 7 months, £100 up front then £100 a month for 4 months, or three payments of £166.67, £166.67 and £166.66. Every plan totals exactly £500, and monthly payments are taken automatically by card through Stripe. You buy your own domain separately, at around £5–£10 a year.
